An update to Tesla’s least expensive vehicle, the Model 3, is coming to the U.S.

The exact timing for the launch in the U.S. is unknown. But the Highland is already available in major markets across the world including the UK, Germany, Australia, and China. The U.S. can’t be far behind. (It’s already been spotted in California.)

Working in the Model 3 ’s favor is price. Starting at under $39,000, it is Tesla’s least expensive vehicle and priced almost $9,000 less than the average transaction price for a new vehicle as of September 2023, according to Kelley Blue Book.

“Tesla’s price cuts have moved the market, pushing electric vehicle (EV) prices down more than 22% year over year, from $65,295 to $50,683,” said Kelley Blue Book.

Compared to September 2022, Tesla transaction prices are down 24.7%, KBB said.

“Tesla Model 3 prices are down more than 26% year over year to $41,484, well below the average luxury car price. Tesla average transaction prices are now lower than Acura, Lexus, Infiniti and Volvo,” according to KBB.

On Highland, the Model 3 has been tweaked rather than overhauled.

The Singapore-based review (below) on X/Twitter is refreshing — short and sweet (which cannot be said for many chatty YouTube car reviews).

The review covers the new Aero wheels, Hardware 4 cameras, stalkless steering wheel, new ambient lighting, rear passenger touchscreen, and more.

Other upgrades the reviewer couldn’t squeeze into the review include acoustic glass and better hood aerodynamics for a quieter ride.

Another important item not covered is range. Motor Trend says the rear-wheel-drive Tesla Model 3 Standard Range may get a worse rating than the 2023 Model 3 it replaces while Long Range may exceed the 2023 Model 3.
